WCRA: Latest News – September 2022

For almost five years now, Ryemeadows Club has been the home of the WCRA Championships, its two distinctive racecourses the backdrop to some terrific racing. We the WCRA Committee have thoroughly enjoyed our time there, and would like to place on record our heartfelt thanks, especially to Dave & Lynn Hunter who have unstintingly given their best and made us feel very welcome. Dave has stored and maintained our equipment and ensured that the tracks are presented to Championship standard.

However, due to personal reasons, the Hunters have made the difficult decision not to renew their agreement with the WCRA next year. We know this was not made lightly and continue to have a very good relationship with Dave & Lynn. Their help over the years to the WCRA Committee means we depart Ryemeadows in much better shape than we arrived.

We are delighted to announce that the Heart of England Club have kindly agreed to host the WCRA Championships at Shuttington from 2023 – the dates are as follows:-

07 May / 1st WCRA Championships
25 June / 2nd WCRA Championships
06 August / 3rd WCRA Championships
08 October / 4th WCRA Championships

The distances and format will be released at a later date.

Heart of England, a club with roots going way back and with a justified reputation for good hospitality, will surely prove an excellent venue and we hope that there we can build on the good progress made at Ryemeadows.

The WCRA Committee sincerely hope that the whippet racing community will embrace this change and continue to support us.
