Championship Show June 2025 DCC RDCC BPD BVD

A long awaited appointment I have been looking forward to for ages, as I had to pull out of the original appointment in 2023. The show has now been moved to Newbury together with Southern Counties, and it was great to see the whippets outside in the sunshine. I think it worked really well and the organisers are to be congratulated on a very well run show. Thank you to The Whippet Club for the opportunity of judging the males at your show, a lovely entry with tremendous quality in all of the classes. A super entry of 86 with few absentees.

Dogs

Veteran ( 12,1 abs)

Exceptional class of veterans

  1. Ch Citycroft Sundae with OxanaJWShCM ShCEx VW (Miss S J Shepherd)
I judged this boy more than 5 years ago, he was my BOB and HG winner that day and went all the way to BIS. All I said then still applies and his lovely quality still shines through at 9 1/2 years old. He is a top quality male, a lovely type with good balance. He is still fit and well muscled, enjoying himself in the ring, and moved out well with reach and drive. BVIS (co judge agreed)
  2. Cobyco One Day at Fedaye (Ms A & Mr A Defaye & Crouch)
Lovely quality 9 year old presented in great muscular condition. Attractive and masculine head and expression. Well arched neck, typical and well constructed with good angulation front and rear. Excellent coat and condition, he moved soundly covering the ground, a little untidy coming towards but excellent drive in rear.
  3. Creme Anglaises One More Knight at Scarletfair (Imp Nld) (Miss H Wayman)

Minor Puppy (5)

  1. Bowdonia No Way Jose at Runforest (Miss E Schofield)
Very nice puppy looking mature and up to size for his 7 months, he presents a good outline standing. Lovely head and super neck into well laid shoulders, I would like a touch more return to his upper arm. Good shape to topline and sweeping underline, well shaped hindquarters and good feet. Moved well in all directions.
  2. Cobyco Capture The Look (Mrs L Yacoby-Wright)
6 months and no way near the maturity of the winner, a super prospect making a lovely shape standing and scoring in front angulation with well muscled hindquarters. Excellent bone, standing on good feet, he just needs time to grow up. Classic head I thought he was lovely and could easily have kidnapped him.
  3. Veredon Bobs Your Uncle (Mr R P Sykes)

Puppy (7,1 abs)

  1. Tervanty Dream of Dragons at Scarletfair (Miss H Wayman)
Super quality well boned puppy of 11 months who makes a lovely shape standing, excellent arch to loin, curvy underline. Shoulder is well laid, he is well ribbed back and ribs are well sprung. His head and expression is beautiful, good eye and neat ears. Excellent bone, he has well angulated hindquarters and moved soundly and steadily. Well deserved BPD BPIS (co judge agreed )
  2. Richclass Read My Mind (Mr N J & Mr D N Richards)
Another quality puppy, and of a make and shape that I like. Masculine with attractive head and oval expressive eyes, strong neck and good topline and underline. I would like to see more forehand angulation and infil of forechest, he has well muscled and nicely angulated hindquarters. Not so steady on the move as the winner.
  3. Corneire Learning to Fly (Mr S J Nicholas)

Junior (8,1 abs)

  1. First Class Soulad by Ranveli (Mr R Wheeler)
Super quality brindle of 17 months, masculine head with good length of neck, well laid shoulder, deep chest and muscular back. His hindquarters are well muscled with good angulation. He stands well over the ground with good feet and well sprung pasterns. Moved well on a long stride.

Good body depth with correct topline, shapely underline, strong loin and good strong rear quarters. Free flowing movement in all directions.
  2. Crosscop Kiss Me Here for Mackjama (Mr M, Mrs J & Miss A Strong & Clinton)
Quality boy of 22 months, I really think he is coming along nicely, a shade bigger than the winner, pleasing head and expression and length of neck. I would like to see slightly more arch over the loin, he has a very shapely underline and I would like to see more infil of forechest. Moved out well just flattens slightly but very sound.

  1. Zoraden Simply The Zest of Macalldon JW (Miss C & Mr R Allansson & Macdonald)
Combining elegance and style with good bone and balanced angulation, this 22 months boy has a lot to like. His head is long and lean, he is well made with lots of scope, has a good front and is well ribbed back. He flowed around the ring displaying reach in front and good drive from the rear.
  2. Shine On Harvey Moon at Chipperlake (Messrs M & A J Cahill & Timberlake)
Coming up for 4 years old so looking more mature than winner, but not the reach and length of stride on the move. His head and expression are lovely, he would benefit from a little more forehand angulation, he has a good topline and nicely angulated rear quarters. He presents with a good outline standing.

  1. Stormida Neon Tiger (Mr S J & Mr L O Middleton & Gilhooly)
This boy was 3rd in a nice post grad class, at 2 1/2 years old he still looks young and needs to body up a bit. He has a masculine head, with the kindest of expressions, long strong neck, forequarters and hindquarters are nicely balanced, forearms straight and he has a nicely shaped topline with a graceful arch over the loin. He comes into his own on the move, is true coming and going and has a long easy stride in profile.

Quality 11 month puppy dog very nice head, good ear and eye, strong neck, nicely constructed front, excellent feet, well bodied for age, lovely rear quarters with good width and bend of stifle. I would prefer a bit more arch over the loin. Once settled he moved with good reach and drive
