Blinkers / Next Stage

The blinkers have been trialled and we have received positive feedback, so we are happy to move to the next stage.

A set of blinkers was sent out to all the affiliated Clubs last year for their use within the Club and, ultimately, feedback to the WCRA.

A number of owners have worked with us and we would like to thank them for their assistance. Although we have proceeded to the next stage, we remain happy to work with people on a case-by-case basis.

The Championships entry forms have been revised to include a yes/no tick box as to the use of blinkers on any of the dogs entered; please ensure this box is completed.

Throughout 2024, the use of these blinkers were on an advisory basis only. This year we will bring in a Rule change that only WCRA approved blinkers can be used at our Championships, effective from the 1st Championships on 11th May. We will hold a ‘spare’ set of blinkers for any dogs that are found not using an acceptable version.

We will be asking those owners with dog(s) using blinkers, to bring their blinkers with them to the weigh in.

Racers will still be able to order and purchase these blinkers directly from the WCRA.

Equipment Update

Those of you who attended any or all of our Championships last year will know that the speaker system wasn’t at it’s best; time and travel have not been their best friends.

Therefore, we have invested in 4 new replacement speakers which we hope will improve both the sound quality and volume.

We have also been looking into retiring quite an ancient piece of equipment, which is probably over 20 years old, known as the timer.

The timer has been pretty reliable to date, albeit temperamental in damp conditions, something that is difficult to control at our events. We are indeed fortunate that a benefactor has come forward to sponsor the cost of a new timer which will be in use at the 1st Championships. A big thank you from the WCRA.
