As many of you will know, the WCRA brought DNA profiling into effect to protect the purity of the breed and this was done in consultation with affiliated clubs at an Extraordinary Club Representatives meeting over 5 years ago.
However, we appreciate that the cost and effort to obtain a DNA profile is prohibitive and, in an increasingly difficult financial climate, this may discourage racers from applying for WCRA passports.
Therefore, the WCRA Committee have considered how best to help racers to reduce the cost and we have decided to put in place the following with immediate effect:-
- Issue 2016 Passports free of charge (usual cost £10)
- Give FREE ENTRY to the Third Championships to whippets with new 2016 Passports (a saving of between £7 and £9).
This represents a total saving of up to £19 per new application.
Please note that any racers who have already applied for a passport or passports this year will be reimbursed the cost of the application(s).
