I was always hopeful that one day I would be honoured enough to be asked to judge this show, so this really was a dream come true. Not only my wonderful entry but the depth of quality and I enjoyed every part of the day. Huge thanks to Stu Middleton on his first show as Secretary, thanks to the committee and my wonderful stewards Clara & Rachel. I feel so positive for the future of the breed, as the quality and type in whippet bitches had so much depth. My only slight concern was more whippets with notably longer hocks, whippets should have short neat hocks for a correct rear angulation and movement. I was lucky enough that nearly every class winner not only was a great example of the breed but all very much my type, which is the icing on the cake! Thanks also do my co-judge for her company and a good hearty whippet discussion at the end.
Minor Puppy Bitch
- Mrs H Johnston & Mr J Wilson’s Danluke Legs Eleven
8 month fawn bitch headed this class of quality bitches. She really has the most beautiful head with nice expressive oval eyes and excellent ear carriage. Good underjaw and long neck. Well laid shoulders and return of upper arm, nice balanced front and excellent depth of brisket. Plenty of scope and length and a quality moderate back end. Moved really soundly around the ring and was true. - Mr M Howgate & Ms Y Hull’s Palmik Raindrop
I was really splitting hairs between this bitch and 1. Both must have very bright futures and exactly where I would want them for their age. This pale brindle bitch was correct size and had a lovely feminine head and neck, she had very smooth shoulders and a lovely front. Plenty of length and also moved round the ring with classic ease and was true in all directions. - Mrs S M Mycroft & Mrs F S Spademan’s Supeta’s Too Glam To Giva Damn
Puppy Bitch
- Mrs J C Whitehead & Miss R L Smith’s Citycroft Lone Star
Gorgeous 11m pale cream fawn bitch of correct size. Lovely correct head, with kind expression. Correct elegant neck and front assembly with a lovely return of upper arm. She has a lovely series of sweeping curves and a super topline with a slight rise over her loin. Moderate back end with the correct angulation and enough bend of stifle. She is a girl with plenty of verve which will help for her show career. When she steadied you really saw the best of her and was also sound in all directions and with beautiful balance. Delighted she was BPB and BPIS - Mr D G Short & Mrs Y L Short’s Collooney Senorita Sissi
Such a pretty brindle bitch, her head is exquisite. At 9 month old she lost a little on maturity, but she is a super girl. Curvy, but on a scopier frame than 1. Lovely length of neck and a good front. I liked her length and the fact it was balanced and she kept her curves. She was a little longer in second thigh than 1, but had good short hocks. Moved well, but 1 had the edge - Mrs S A Kemp’s Saraquele Smooth N Sassy
Junior Bitch
- Mrs L Yacoby-Wright’s Cobyco Capture the Moment
This fawn brindle girl really was one of my favourites today, another which had the perfect balance of femininity and function wrapped up in a correct sized bitch. Nice correct head with a soft expresssion. Excellent front, shoulders leading into a lovely deep brisket and a slight spring of rib. Moderate loin, lovely curves into another moderate and very correct hindquarters. She really moved with drive as well as well as with lightness. - Mrs C Perkins & Mr K van der Schaaf’s Silkridge Mistletoe Smooch
Stunning red fawn bitch with attractive white trim. Loved her dark eye, gentle expression and also strong under jaw. Nice layback of shoulder and excellent return of upper arm. Slightly more compact than 1, but improves as she relaxes. Gorgeous curves again and super back end and lovely short hocks. Moved soundly - Mrs D Roth-Brown’s Edenwhip Daydream Believer
Yearling Bitch
- Mrs L Waddell, Mr G Waddell, Mrs F Spademan & Mrs S Mycroft’s Ch Crosscop Temptation to Supeta
21m Fawn brindle bitch, such an elegant girl and immediately took my eye. Scopier than some of my other winners and up to size but she is so elegant and feminine. Pretty head with lovely ears, long neck into smooth shoulders, correct fill in front and good bone. Perfect outline with a deep brisket and underline that really sweeps into her rear end. Presented in excellent condition - Mrs N J Wood’s Edenwhip Harvest Moon
Another classy bitch, a 20m fawn made on slightly more compact lines. Very typey feminine head, correct ears, she had a really lovely lay of shoulders and liked her front and her legs sit tightly under her withers. Really curvy underline with exceptionally deep brisket. I noted how much I loved her very close coat and her condition. Moved well but 1 had the edge. - Mrs E K Mallinson & Miss L Mallinson’s Edenwhip A Moment in Time

Super brindle white parti. Very striking bitch, really loved her curves and elegance. Prettiest of heads, lovely front and smooth shoulders, lovely spring of rib and into perfect length of loin. I feel really positive for the future of the breed with bitches like this one winning. She is ‘pure whippet’ in every regard and is so wonderful to go over and then really appreciate her. She is perfect for size and femininity. The prettiest of head with good under jaw and ears, plenty of length of neck and super lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Her front legs sit so perfectly under her and tight to the brisket. Loved her spring of rib and then really balanced topline and underline and gentle smoothness down her croup into her correct rear end with those perfect short hocks. She was true in every direction and moved so well with her handler – a real team. CC and thrilled she went BIS on referees decision. - Mrs K J Jones & Mr J D Jones Jothryn Manhattan Blonde JW
