WCRA News & Announcements
WCRA Championships 2020 & 2021
2020 has become a memorable year but a desperately sad one for many, many people – the effects of which will affect us for some time to come.
Our first priority has to be that of the racers’ health and recent developments regarding the pandemic are worrying therefore we have made the decision to cancel all our Championships this year.
Obviously we were looking forward to celebrating our Golden Anniversary in 2020, with so many of us racers in the older generation the health risk is simply too great. However, we do intend to carry over our 50th into 2021.
NEW FOR 2021
In 2021, the WCRA Golden Anniversary, we are offering the chance to win a portrait of your dog and also the opportunity to sponsor weight groups in the WCRA Championships.
We have on offer the opportunity for people to sponsor one or more weight groups in the Main Championships, Veteran Crowns and Superstars Veteran Sprint.
The cost for sponsorship is £10 per group per Championships or £30 for all 4 Main Championships for 1 group. Veteran Group sponsorship is £10 per group or £15 for 1 group for both events.
There is an option to commemorate a person or dog for a specific weight group or groups which will be published and displayed in the Program accordingly.

WCRA Superstars League – final results and trophy winners
A lovely Indian Summer’s day and the ground getting closer to how we want it; credit to Ray Pond, Ian German and Garry Comber who have done the bulk of the preparations and ground work; improvements to the venue are set to continue over the winter months.
The venue will be The Whippet Meadow, at Detling near Maidstone, Kent.
Sunday, 8th May, 2016 – Main and Veterans – 150 yards Straight
First of all huge credit to the guys who worked so hard to produce a good running surface. Effectively zero grass growth since the last Champs and naturally the bunnies preferred the track to the infield
Today we felt the benefit of a dedicated racetrack. Much hard work by Ray and his dedicated crew meant that despite dry, windy weather through April.
Fitting that following the loss of the Moreton venue – it turns out the Cricket Club needed the ground to accommodate a fellow club – we revert to one of our old secondary venues as a neutral ground.
