Results of the Whippet Club Obedience Classes

Thank you to Sharon and the committee for inviting me to judge the limited obedience at the Whippet Club Show. Thanks also to Karen for giving up her day to steward all four rounds efficiently.

We were both looked after by Sharon, provided with a superb lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

The results of the classes are as follows:

Pre Beginner

1st Dejare Ma Petite Amie

A lovely round from this team. Heelwork was very good and the recall was excellent. Congratulations on this place and the best of luck for the future.

2nd Lennie

Lennie has had problems with sits but today he managed to do all of them. He gave a good account of himself in all the other exercises managing one of the few clear recalls of the day. Congratulations

3rd Whisterfield Sweet William

Another good round with minor points being lost on all exercises. Attractive heelwork and a good recall secured this place.

4th Monelli Mississippi

This dog needed a bit of assistance in all exercises and the handler quite rightly helped when needed which resulted in some of the marks lost. When he did get going he was lovely. Good luck with him.

5th Wellstar as you like it at Monelli

Put in a lovely round of heelwork and a good recall only to break stays. Otherwise, would have been at the other end of the line up. Better luck next time.

6th Jasbri Playmate at Sammoll

Another dog that needed assistance in all exercises and help was rightly given when needed. Again, when he was working he looked really good so keep at it.

Beginner (stays took its toll on this class with all of them breaking at some point)

1st Whisterfield Sweet William

Heelwork was very good and consistent and the recall was excellent. Had a few problems on retrieve but overall a very good round.

Congratulations and well done on this place.

2nd Monelli Mississippi

Heel on lead was excellent but he lost the plot abit on heel free. You did manage to get him back on track so well done.A really good retrieve from this dog but he did need a bit of extra help on the recall.Very well done.

3rd Lennie

A good consistent round of heelwork and another excellent clear recall from Lennie.Needed a bit of help going out for the retrieve and then performed the rest of the exercise really well.

4th Dejare Ma Petite Amie

Not quite as crisp as the winning pre beginner round but heelwork still on a par with the leaders. Unfortunately, retrieve was the obstacle today which accounted for most of the marks lost.

5th Hammonds Awakening

Heel on lead was performed really well, not quite so good heel free. Another that needed extra help on the recall and couldn’t quite manage the retrieve.

Novice

1st Bosmere Smoke Tree

Really good heel work on both sets, an excellent clear recall and minimal marks lost on retrieve.Worked by Mum as son (usual handler) was not available and the dog didn’t appear to be bothered and put in an excellent round.Well done to you both.

2nd Curlands Blue Velvet at Bosmere

Heel on lead really good but not so good heel free. Recall excellent (clear) and minimal marks lost on the retrieve.Very well done.

3rd Shandril Moondance

Heelwork was very nice but unfortunately mark were lost for a messy recall and retrieve.

4th Sandspring Smart Cookie at Shandril

Heelwork was lovely, attentive and showed signs of being very stylish. Unfortunately, dog lost the dumbbell so the majority of marks were lost on the retrieve.

5th Bosemere Velvet Ash

Heelwork good and fairly consistent.Unfortunately didn’t want to do the retrieve which was costly.

6th Hammonds Awakening

Needed some help with all exercises as was distracted by smells outside of the ring. Managed to complete a set of stays though which was an achievement. Hope you were pleased with him.

Test A (Scent not good – all 3 failed)

1st Bosmere Smoke Tree

Worked by Mum again and put in a very credible performance.

Good luck with him.

2nd Shandril Shining Star

Worked a good round but necessary extra commands relegated you to second place.

Best of luck for the future

3rd Bosmere Velvet Ash

Didn’t want to do the retrieve today and Mum took the wrong course, other than that could have been really good.Better luck next time
