Whippet Club Racing Association Meetings Notes

To keep all racers informed, in future we are using this Web Site to publish brief notes on matters of interest. This is in addition to sending the usual Secretary's Letters and Notes in the Championship Programmes.

Affiliated club Secretaries and Racing Managers will shortly be receiving revised WCRA Rules of Racing which will apply from the beginning of 2007.

Any variation in the application of any of the Rules must be agreed by the WCRA Committee. Individual WCRA committee memebrs are therefore not free to change conditions or waive penalties. If, in a particular case, - for example in respect of a disqualification or withholding Superstar points - there are particular circumstances for which the application of the Rules as written does not seem entirely appropriate, the decision on how to proceed will be taken by the WCRA Committee.

Exercise of this flexibility should, in no circumstances, be regarded as a failure by the relevant WCRA official to act correctly. The Committee were appalled to learn that, when such a case arose at the 4th. Championships, some racers felt themselves at liberty to abuse the Committee member concerned.

Abuse of any race official, whether at club or Championship meetings, is unacceptable.
Our sport only survives because people are prepared to give freely of their time and effort to keep it going. They have the right to expect to be treated courteously.

Just to remind you that the Whippet Club AGM which will take place on 24 March 2007, there will be three places for election on a rota system. All three candidates are eligible to stand for re-election, namely Marcus Nelson, Steve Evans and Kim Saxby. Any nominations for new candidates should have been sent to the Whippet Club secretary Dennis Mayger by 15 February 2007. Those nominated must be members of the Whippet Club and have been paid up members for at least two years.
